History repeats itself,
The saying is well known,
Empires rise with pride,
People die without notice,
No one cares about each other until there’s no one to care about,
People don’t matter to the greats until they lose their power because of their ego.
Likewise, history denounces itself,
The losers are evil,
The winners are grand,
The dead are only mourned when they were a part of something great,
The ones with status are regarded with naive trust,
The truth is buried beneath the censor we call nationalism.
The history we learn isn’t fact,
People always matter,
For some empires, their pride is their poison,
Not all losers were evil,
Not all winners are saints,
The greats aren’t prophets,
Censorship is the root of nationalism,
The truth is the death of a state.
