The movie A Walk to Remember is an astonishing film directed by Adam Shankman, featuring talented actors Mandy Moore and Shane West, who remain close friends to this day. This romance/drama film was released in 2002 and runs for one hour and forty-two minutes. With the talent in this movie, it was inevitable that it would win some awards. Mandy Moore was primarily recognized for her breathtaking performance and the film’s popularity among teenagers.
The movie is an emotional film that takes place in North Carolina. It starts with the typical popular and rebellious high school senior, Landon Carter, who falls in love with the introverted and intelligent Jamie Sullivan. The movie begins with Landon and his posse playing a prank that goes terribly wrong. As a consequence, Landon is forced to join a play in which he truly acknowledges Jamie.
While Jamie opens Landon’s eyes to a new perspective on things, he starts to grow feelings for her. Jamie is aware of his feelings but rejects him with the intention of not hurting him. Despite Jamie’s rejection of Landon, he still does not give up. Giving in, Jamie tells Landon the true reason why she can’t be with him is due to her having leukemia. But even so, Landon stays by her side, in sickness and in health. Throughout the whole movie, Shane West and Mandy Moore were highlighted for their emotional connection. Shane West portrayed the bad boy persona extremely well. But he also represented a boy willing to change for someone he loves. He learns not to care about what others think and learns to follow his heart. Even though this was Mandy Moore’s first leading role in her career, she characterized her role with emotion and grace. She is recognized for making her character memorable and meaningful. Both characters were acknowledged for their connection, winning them the 2002 Teen Choice Award.
In my personal opinion, I loved everything about this movie. This movie is for people who enjoy a good cry, or for the people who feel like they have to hide themselves. To me, this movie was about personal growth and how time is a thief. The only bad thing about this movie is how unfair the reality of life can be. In conclusion, if you want to be absolutely heartbroken for months, then I suggest you watch this movie.
