The Art of Music

The Art of Music

Emma Wilson, Writer

Music means many different things to people, whether it’s singing, playing an instrument, or just listening to your favorite song riding down the road.  It’s the door to many creative sides of people. I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t have music. Life would be dull and bare without it. People feel that music gets them through everything. Maybe you had a bad day, what do you do? Listen to music. One of the best parts about music is how it can change your mood very quickly. You put on a rap song with a good beat, and you feel invincible. But you put on a sad song about love, and you feel as tiny as a crumb. It helps people express who they are and what they’ve been through. Take The Weekend by Sza, for example; the meaning behind the song is how her serious boyfriend that she had at the time cheated on her, and she knew about it. She felt like she was only needed for the weekends, but she would be the one he looked forward to at the end of the day. In musical theatre, there’s a saying: if you can’t say it, sing it. That goes for listening to music and singers too. Sometimes when your emotions build-up, you can’t say it, but you express through music. On the other hand, people would argue that music isn’t that important. Either way, music is so important, and it’s an outlet to express your emotions and how you feel.
