For many years, the spring musical of Cartersville High School has been posted on the wall since the
first day of school. However, with a new teacher comes a new way of doing things. Due to this change in leadership– the musical had yet to be announced as of the first day.
With auditions on November 28th and 29th, the current cast and crew of One Act had been collecting theories about what the show might be.
“It’s gotta be Matilda,” said Jillian Gunter, head stage manager. “The first hint was Emma
Wilson, who played Matilda at the Grand Theater a few years ago. It’s a large ensemble, and Matilda has
a HUGE ensemble. She said it’s a belt-y show, and that most scenes are in a school. All that points to
Matilda.”
Though this begs the question: Do these requirements not also work for High School Musical? Or
perhaps the Heathers?
Well, the day finally arrived where the musical was announced: on November 28th, auditions will
be open school-wide for our 2023-2024 spring musical: Mean Girls!
