At this point, we have all seen the lifestyle videos of families living in RVs together, travelling the world in an idyllic style of life. But when we look closer and with more scrutiny at these situations, when we pass through the smokescreen of the hopefulness of adventure, we see a neglectful and downright cruel style of family that upsets many.
On the channel “Your Hype Couple”, led by parents Jenn and Kyle, there was an extremely controversial video showing off how they kept sleeping quarters with them and their three children. The parents showed their room with a king-sized bed and a bathroom for the two of them. However, when the camera panned to the children’s beds, they were stuffed into shelves. Three feet high apiece, the children must climb up a thin, barely-there ladder, and when they get to their beds, they must lie flat on their backs to fit inside.
In another upsetting stunt, they videoed their daughter as she was performing her punishment, carrying heavy metal sheets with her bike and cleaning dishes and the rest of the van, humiliating her for 7.8 million to see.
The institute of “family channels” and the child exploitation that comes with it have been long disputed, but this new trend of van life, life on the road in thirty-five square feet with three or more children, is a whole new level of gross.
