Rush: An Interview with Mia Shaw

Rush: An Interview with Mia Shaw

Sydney Rhodes, Writer

Mia Shaw is a first-year student at the University of Georgia. She recently rushed to a sorority. She got into Alpha Gamma Delta.

Q: “Okay, first why did you want to rush?”

A: “I didn’t want to do it at first, but I decided to, so that I would be able to get involved and go to events right from the start at college.”

Q: “What drew you to your sorority?”

A: “It was very laid back and there were a variety of different girls. The events are fun but not required and nothing seems forced.

Q: “Did you feel pressured or nervous to talk to some of the girls and houses?”

A: “Yes at some houses the conversation was very forced, and I was just worried about them not liking me the whole time.”

Q: “Did it help you to have friends to rush with you?”

A: “Yes although sometimes it was hard because it was hard because you’d compare who cut you or how many houses you got back.”

Q: “Okay last question, what is advice for any people planning to rush in the future.”

A: “Do not worry about how many houses you get back, or which ones. Do not compare your own to others. Everyone ends up with one anyway. If you are worried that you will get cut from a house, it is best because you did not fit in there.
