The 39th edition of KIDZ BOP is out and features songs such as “Girls Like You” by Maroon 5 and Drake’s “In My Feelings.”
The business focuses on making songs more kid-friendly, so that younger audiences can listen to explicit songs.
Changes such as “Love your curves and all your edges” to “Love your words and all your edges” in John Legend’s “All Of Me” and “She told me in the morning she don’t feel the same about us in her bones” to “She told me in the hallway she don’t feel the same about us in her bones” are actual quotes from two covers.
Honestly though, why do they even change lyrics like that? Unless by some reason the morning time has become 18 and up. Sorry kids, you’ll have to stay in bed until noon now.
On top of the lyric changes, some songs just shouldn’t be covered. Leave Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” and All Star’s “Smash Mouth” alone. They have a whole choir of children singing the lyrics, “bid my blood to run before I come undone” — and that’s where they should have realized it was time to stop. Instead, they made 35 more.
On top of that, songs like Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” just shouldn’t be covered by children anyways. That should speak for itself.
If there’s such a concern about kids needing to listen to safe-for-work songs, then just play them safe-for-work songs. Stop blasting Kesha and Flo Rida and put on “Baby Shark.” Or, another alternative could be to simply listen to the safe-for-work versions of songs, because plenty of artists put them out.
