Alcove

An alcove is a hollow in a steep hillside—a refuge from the elements. Historically, they have been transformed into altars, shelters, memorials and even small villages. Here at CHS, Alcove is also the name of our literature society. 

At weekly meetings, members can discuss writing and writers of all volitions. From philosophy to poetry, the classics to underground work, no form, topic, or genre is off the table at meetings. As the goal of Alcove is to provide a time and place for CHS students to explore literature, the society also provides the opportunity to share and discuss their own work. As such, Alcove publishes an online Quarterly journal of member’s submitted work. There are no requirements to join—besides a love of the written word!  

Meetings are on Wednesdays, after school, in Room H202. We hope to see you there!
