When it came time to sign up for sixth-grade electives, Ethan Gifford simply thought that theatre classes would be a fun way to spend an hour of the day. Now, 5 years later, he’s just finished assistant directing a high school production, Tinkerbell.
It has taken Ethan a substantial amount of hard work and dedication to get to this point. After his last middle school show, he realized he wanted to explore theatre from the technical perspective. That decision has led him to fulfill the role of stage manager for numerous CHS plays and musicals. As stage manager, Ethan would sit down and take notes to share with the cast after rehearsal; however, as assistant director, he could give real-time feedback and dictate the rehearsal flow. He feels honored that Ms. Lejune has trusted him with these responsibilities and is grateful to have met so many fun and wonderful people while working on Tinkerbell.
So, what is next for Ethan Gifford? He’ll be stage-managing CHS’s spring musical 9 to 5, a show that features the music and lyrics of Dolly Parton. If you want to see Ethan and our talented theatre program’s work in action, look out for the showtimes of performances on May 9, 10, and 11.
