I Love You 

Three words that hold so much weight 

Whisper it in my ear, 

It’s all I need to hear 

And I’ll give you a break. 

Three words that take me back in time 

Tell me you love me 

 and I’ll erase the memory  

straight out of my mind 

Three words that take away my sight. 

Why would you do that? 

Well, I don’t want to fight 

Let’s just forget it, alright? 

You call me stupid 

And you call me a fool 

Text me at midnight 

“let’s talk it out at school” 

Three words I’ve been told  

One two many times 

So rehearsed like an actor reading lines 

It’s just a cycle 

Of misogyny and abuse 

But those three words will always amuse.  

I love you too.  

I Hate You 

Words we say but do not mean 

When fights and anger consume us 

I hate you 

But I don’t hate you, 

I don’t even dislike you  

Yet I say it 

And I think I mean it wholeheartedly 

I hate you, but I love you  

And I miss you  

And I never want to see you again  

It’s funny how our feelings make us believe crazy things, 

Say words that will always sting your throat just to think about 

I hate you 

And I’m sorry 

And I promise I won’t say it again 

Until the words flow out like a river we can no longer contain 

I don’t hate you, 

My brain knows the truth 

Yet my tongue seems to be confused  

Hate is no word to describe us, 

Hate is far from the truth, 

But for some reason, unbeknown to me, I hate you.
