Padgett Gilbert: New Math Teacher

Lyle Forristall, Writer

Another new teacher here to Cartersville High School, but no stranger to education, is Padgett Gilbert.  A native of Cherokee, AL, Gilbert attended Jacksonville State University where she decided to become a teacher because she is good at math and “had nothing else to do.”

She and her husband, Lane, met in college and have an eight-year old daughter, Natalie. Her husband is the youth pastor at Sam Jones.

A veteran educator, Gilbert taught in Alabama for ten year before moving to Cartersville. For the past three years, she was at Cartersville Middle School, where she taught eighth grade math and algebra 1. Her last year there, she helped in the technology department. Here at CHS, she teaches algebra 2.

Inside the education arena, Gilbert loves getting to know her students. Outside of school, she loves spending time with her family… and eating tacos.
