The Rams are moving back to Los Angeles. This is marking the first time the NFL has had a team in LA since 1994, when both the Rams and the Raiders moved out of the city. This is a major change in the NFL because it’s not a new team showing up in LA, it’s a team relocating to LA. The Rams organization has been around since the 1930s, starting in Cleveland, moving to Los Angeles, then to St. Louis, and now back to Los Angeles.

The deal to move to LA has been in the works all season, and originally included moving the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders as well. During the negotiations yesterday the Raiders backed out and the Chargers were given an extra year to decide if they wanted to move to LA as well. We will know in January of 2017 if they will join the Rams.

Inglewood, California will be the home of the new LA Rams, with a stadium projected to cost $1.7B. The St. Louis market is not likely to be left open for long, but no one knows when a new team will show up there.
